Is getting your carpets professionally cleaned better than renting a carpet cleaner from the grocery store?

My landlord has it in the lease that I need to get my carpets professionally cleaned. I just got quoted at over 0 from Stanley Steemers. At my old apts I was able to just rent a carpet cleaner from the grocery store, it was cheaper and it worked pretty good!
